Obviously, the world I almost divided in half for people with disability. In particular, those who are confined to need more than patience to face the truth about having no legs to use.

, global "building codes" promulgate and provide accessibility for disabled people so that going to any establishments and commercial centers have special place and set-up suited for them.

are visibly noticed in public comfort rooms, parking areas, special railings at corridors, emergency switches, elevators/lifts, and ramps along sidewalk curbs. It is mandatory to provide mobility for wheelchairs to alleviate the sufferings. Given all the considerations, portable can make this world caring for the indigents.

Portable are mechanical solutions to lift people on platforms like stages where ramps are not available and practical to be built. Even though there is global support to ease the accessibility of wheelchairs anywhere, there are selected but many instances where portable wheelchair lifts are necessary.

A standard minimal width of 32 inches requirement is specified to accommodate installation of special wheelchair lift for stairwells. Portable wheelchair lifts will specially conform to the best ergonomic possibilities for daily activities. Designs are very adaptable to ease household needs without affecting the usual members.

Although it seems like the solution for mobility, expect space consumption when you purchase a portable wheelchair lift. You could imagine a massive but movable small elevator hovering your house. It is basically made of steel hollow frames, steel plates, strong enough to withstand a weight of up to 750 pounds. It is an innovation highly engineered to safeguard the need of lifting heavy dead weight.

Its mechanism is sophisticated and complete with fasteners and screws for attachment, springs, rollers and tracks for flexibility. Packages include installation of these parts by technical personnel to avoid errors in trial attempts. But just like any collapsible designs one can purchase everywhere, portable wheelchair lifts can be managed for layman’s assembly with all the technical instructions and manual.

Usually, portable wheelchair lifts must comply with the most important functionality considerations:

* SAFETY - like any design standard procedure, safety is the most important attribute portable wheelchair lifts are built for.

* INNOVATIVE - must have the best design for handy use and give maximum comfort with less effort both on the assistant and the patient.

* FUNCTION - it must serve well the practical purpose of lifting or raising wheelchairs the practical way possible and bridge the gap between incapability and achievement with provision of this device.

s may not seem all that important when you think about it. It is heavy, hot and even suffocating. The material may even cause break-outs on the skin and even allergies. Motorcycle helmets also keep you from enjoying the wind on your face as you ride. So why the hell should people wear them? The answer is actually fairly simple. It can keep you from having a permanent or even keep you from dying.

Take for instance the story of Don Koening who died when his head hit a tree. He left his helmet on his front porch.

There are a lot of people who have suffered from permanent disability, some even died, just because they have forgotten one tiny detail, to wear their motorcycle helmet. What is more saddening about this is the fact that most of these people are between the ages of 16 and 24, people who still have a full life ahead of them.

Laws requiring helmet use

This is perhaps the reason why have included the wearing of the motorcycle helmets in state laws. The law also states that the helmet worn must also pass the criteria that are set by the Department of Transportation’s Federal Motorcycle Vehicle Safety Standard 218. It is one of the three laws that require motorists to wear while in motor vehicles. The other two are the use of a child-passenger safety restrains and the use of seatbelts while inside the car.

Differences in some state laws

Although the same basic law is stated in all the states, there are slight differences as to the enforcement especially with the monetary fines. In California for instance, motorists must all the time. Helmets should not only be worn but also securely strapped in. In Florida, the law is somewhat a little bit more complicated.

Although all motorists are encouraged to wear helmets when they ride, people over 21 years old and are covered by an insurance policy that provides for at least 10,000 dollars in medical assistance should an accident happen are exempted.

The helmet law also does not apply to people who are 16 and older and are operating a motorcycle that have a displacement of 50 cubic centimeters; does not have an excess of two brake horsepower or those that are not capable of operating it beyond the speed of 30 miles per hour.

Stockport dealership signs up to scheme to keep you mobile

with disabilities in the Manchester area can now add to their .

The news follows the decision to award Lookers SEAT of Stockport full status, making it one of the first within the SEAT UK network.

And in preparation for an expected influx of potential customers, salesmen Clive Cooper and Darren Conway have been appointed as accredited specialists to handle all Motability enquiries after passing a stringent assessment programme set out by the independent organisation.

Simon Duffy, sales manager at the St Mary’s Way dealership, said: “Gaining full Motability status is a major step forward for the dealership. SEAT cars are terrific performers and tremendously stylish, now we have been appointed as Motability agents our cars can now go high onto the shopping list of all drivers.”

With the exception of the SEAT Alhambra people carrier, the entire SEAT line-up of family cars has been deemed eligible for Motability aid, including the entry level SEAT Ibiza, Leon, Toledo and Altea models.

Mr Duffy added: “While there has been genuine interest in all our models, the SEAT Ibiza 1.2 Reference and 1.4 Sport models have proven to be extremely popular with disabled drivers who are looking to make optimum use of their allowance.”

Motability is a national charity, set up on the initiative of the government, to assist with their mobility needs, whether it be a car, powered wheelchair or scooter, by using their government-funded mobility allowances.

In order to gain the Motability status, the two sales executives have been trained to ensure people with disabilities are able to use the correct grant to help pay for its lease or purchase.

Those who are able to use the Motability scheme include people on War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement or the Disability Living Allowance (DLA).

Disabled people who cannot drive are also entitled to grant-aid, as they can apply for a car as a passenger and propose two other people as personal drivers. Parents or guardians of children aged three or over can also apply.

For more information, please contact Lookers SEAT of Stockport, in St Mary’s Way, Stockport, by telephoning 0161 333 3344.
