Businesses often need to make deliveries to customers and also pick up goods from suppliers. And to achieve this requirement, many businesses use box trucks and 4×4 vans. Box trucks are available in a variety of lengths, usually up to about 40 feet. Their box can hold large cargo securely and keeps it safe from the weather.

Box trucks are available most commonly with diesel or gasoline engines. Alternative fueled engines such as LPG and natural gas are also available. For example, large box trucks for sale might have a 8.0L gasoline engines. Box trucks can generally also be used for towing.

Some businesses do not need something as large as a box truck, or need something a bit smaller to fit in tight residential driveways. In those cases, businesses might look for 4×4 vans for sale instead. A 4×4 van has four axles, and all four of them are driven. This fact makes them useful in snow and other conditions where traction might not be as good as on dry pavement. So they can be used for off-road and other deliveries and pick up duties as well.

When purchasing a used box truck or 4×4 van, it is important to take the vehicle on a drive. During the drive, be on the watch for any strange sounds or clunking feelings. Clunking feelings can indicate faulty tie rod ends, upper and or lower ball joints, or other problems. Now any problems found do not necessarily mean the vehicle shouldn’t be purchased.

Rather, these issues should be used to negotiate the price with the seller. Sometimes it is possible to get a good discount off the asking price because of the problems discovered. Also inspecting the maintenance records for the vehicle can be helpful. Many diesel engine box trucks can go 500,000 miles or more if they are properly maintained. Sometimes they require a teardown to inspect and replace the main bearings and piston liners but at that mileage it is really more maintenance than repair.
